Scientific research and medical education
Since its inception in December 2002, the Enzo Piccinini Foundation has established commitment in the medical-scientific sector among the priorities of its activity; The Foundation has among its objectives that of supporting projects that give continuity to the work that Dr. Piccinini carried out in the medical-scientific field. Enzo’s closest collaborators have developed some research projects in recent years, in collaboration with national and international university centers, in the field of oncological surgery and in the study of molecular biology. Some of the projects launched have already led to the creation of scientific publications in authoritative international journals. Since June 2005, renewed every year, an agreement has been in progress between the Piccinini Foundation and the Department of Histology, Embryology and Applied Biology ofBologna University for carrying out research initiatives for the study of neoplastic diseases with particular regard to colorectal carcinoma, for the search for early molecular markers in human diseases, molecular physiology and pathophysiology of human epithelial tissues.
